I’m still job hunting. And, for the first time in a few months, I’ve come across a ‘follow up/pre-task’ that isn’t a giant pain in my ass to complete. As a ‘promising candidate’ for a position that I applied for, I was asked write, in two hundred words or less, who my favourite superhero is and why. Here goes:
With no shortage of traditional superheroes, it’s no wonder that sometimes the world of fantasy is so much more appealing than that of reality. While I very much admire the bravery of Batman and the strength of Superman, my favourite superhero is my cousin Ian.
Ian is a former member of the Military, who served three tours of duty in Afghanistan as a part of the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit. If ever there was a definition of fearless in my mind, it’s him. After spending fifteen years of his life travelling to war zones, he retired from the Military, married his high school sweetheart and became a police officer. In spite of everything he’s seen both in the Military and as a police officer, he is one of the most positive people I’ve ever known and is raising his two children to always see the good in everything.
I admire his strength, humility, sincerity and love for the world in spite of seeing the very worst aspects of it. He makes people better and he consistently makes the world a better place with his actions. Ian, in my opinion, is a real life superhero.
I need to work in it more, I know that. But I wonder if I’ll get docked for chosing someone that’s not a comic book character. I hope not. It just seems so silly to chose a fictional character when I know a real life superhero. Maybe I’m wrong. I should stop second-guessing myself. That being said, I’ll work on it.
Perfect!!! You’re Hired : )

It’s a trick question that you didn’t fall for by not using a fictional character as your answer. I’m with Dwight. Your answer shows out of the box critical thinking that I DID hire candidates for demonstrating. It’s perfect as it is 👍

You think it’s a trick question? It just seems so silly of me to say ‘Batman’ or something of the sort, ya know? Thank you for your vote of confidence, it means a lot.

I would fail at writing a response for that question, haha, because I would assume they would actually want me to write about a fictional character instead of a real life superhero in my own life. Hope your answer impresses them!
