There were fraudulent transfers made from my paypal (that forgot I even had) account last week. Read about it here >
I spent an hour on hold with PayPal. The PayPal agent agreed the payments were fraudulent, just by the information that was used on them, the time they happened, etc..
He said I would get a refund in five business days.
He also said ‘Call your bank, cancel your card. If it’s been compromised you don’t want this happening again’.
Duh.
I was actually on hold with my bank at on my other cell phone at the moment he was telling me that. (You know how it is, in this day and age, having to wait a half hour before you get to talk to a human being and not a machine)
Total wait time for the bank was 35 minutes.
I cancelled the card, but before I did, I asked the bank and said – can they still refund me if I cancel this card?
He assured me, “Yes ma’am, the refund will still be possible with the card cancelled. It will be no issue.”
So I cancelled the card. For obvious reasons. I didn’t need any more money taken from me.
PayPal said I would have a refund in 5 business days.
Today is the fifth day.
I’ve been on hold with pay pal for 46 minutes. The one woman who did pop on for a brief minute and thirty seconds said they’re having issues with refunding me and asked if I could verify the card information.
I said “I cancelled the card”.
“Why would you do that? How are we supposed to refund you?”
YOUR FUCKING AGENT TOLD ME TO CANCEL THE CARD LAST WEEK. THE BANK TOLD ME TO CANCEL THE CARD LAST WEEK. THE WHOLE WORLD TOLD ME TO FUCKING CANCEL THE CARD LAST WEEK. WHY THE FUCK WOULD I WANT MY COMPROMISED INFORMATION OUT THERE FOR MORE CHARGES TO GO THROUGH?
“We’re having some issues refunding you because of what I’m assuming is your cancelled card.” She said.
“No way, Jose. I distinctly asked the bank about this last week,” I told her. “The bank said that even if I cancelled the card, the way the system works is an refund issued to that card information would be attributed to my person and my credit status with the bank and therefore be implemented onto my new card.”
PayPal woman “Well, we’re having issues, we’re going to need another 3-5 business days to figure out this issue”.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I can’t be the first person in the history of the world to have fraudulent charges made, cancel their card and expect a refund for the fraudulent charges. You’re fucking pay pal. You have how many millions of customers?
I have no words for that woman…🤦🏻♀️

Thank you ❤
I went out and bought myself a coffee, took the doggo for a walk and I'm feeling much calmer now.

Was it a debit card or a credit card? I will tell you what to do.

It was a credit card. I’m on hold with the bank right now to tell the bank what they said and ask the bank to phone them on my behalf

Your credit card holder should have offered yo to keep your account, but have a different card NUMBER issues. They still should be able to do this, even if they didn’t before. Then paypal should reverse the change to the credit card, and this should automatically go to your credit card account with the new number

Yeah, they did. That’s why they said it would be fine to get a refund. I honestly just think it’s PayPal playing games with me. I asked the bank to solve this for me and they said they’d get back to me later this afternoon. We’ll see if a bank can intimidate them more than I can!

Hope you get this all figured out! Most of us don’t have that long to be waiting for our money to come back to us ;( I don’t know if they really understand that.

Thank you! I definitely don’t think the person on the phone understands. This is like make or break money and she’s just treating it like it is cash moneys I walk around with in my pocket so it’s not a big deal to lose. It’s annoying.

They never know wtf they’re talking about it seems. I had a tree branch fall on some electric wires and the electric company, who owns those effin wires, decided that outages were more important than a wire that was partly connected and popping off at the connection point. Sparks cause fires idiots. UGH!!!! I feel you girl, I really do. I also talked to a woman and told her real clear what was going on and they sent a guy right out.

Haha, this post is my life in a nutshell 😂 PayPal is so annoying. Their customer service personnels used to be helpful, but now, they’ve been pretty…trashy (sorry, not sorry). Also, it’s bad enough I hate calling banks, PayPal, and similar companies to those, but to WAIT ON THE PHONE? Gosh, it’s a terrible. I absolutely HATE waiting on the phone! I’m so impatient😂 Anyway, I really enjoyed this post because I can totally relate lol #milenniallifecrisis indeed😁

I hope that you get this all straightened out soon. Having dealt with something similar I know how much of a pain this can be. I honestly think that sometimes companies drag their feet hoping that you’ll forget or give up. Don’t stop fighting.

Banks and insurance are the biggest looters. They officially loot you and you can’t do anything.

I’ve been feeling that lately. I’m hoping they’ll be able to get this sorted out with Paypal for me though. Fingers are crossed.
