To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I couldn’t agree more. I was getting all dopey with feels for you as I read that, but at the end, I’ve realized I’m actually in love with Ralph Emerson hahahah

Does that mean we’re not getting married anymore? I can’t compete with Ralph. He’s a wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better writer and waayyyyyyyyy more intelligent.

I’m looking back on my old posts today and I never responded to your comment. It sounds like a great piece of motivation to have in your office. I bet people ask you about it!

I love his quotes and his philosophy I always think its funny how what he says seems to contrast with how he looks. In his pictures, he looks kindly, but formal, and can’t imagine him saying things like this βIt is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.β

He seems like the type of guy who would’ve always been telling his friends the good advice and giving his friends new ways to do things, see things and think about things. Like that friend you’d always go to when you’re in trouble.

So true words. So beautifully written. And an appropriate comment on the world of today.

I love this post. Can’t say that I necessarily uphold it, but I strive for it.

It’s a good way of life to strive for. I would say it’s what I desire. I think I’ll have succeeded if this reigns even a little bit true for me.

This is a great quote – in a nutshell, life is about living and living well, for the betterment of self and for those around us.

While I thank you for the compliment, this quote was from Ralph Waldo Emerson. A wise soul he was, a lot wiser than I. I cannot take credit for his timeless words.
