Tonight, a kind soul pointed out a post they knew I’d written that was recently posted to someone else’s blog. Upon further inspection of said blog, it’s a lot more than just one post.
Someone has been taking my posts… word for fucking word, title and all, and posting them to their blog passing them off as their own. Not changing a line, a note, or a single letter. My fucking spelling mistakes are in their posts. They literally just copied and pasted it to their blog.
This is a really shitty feeling.
Edit: Yes, I have reported them. Not sure if or when anything will happen with that. But I did report them.
This was so awful it triggered a poem on my blog about word theft – it’s a bit of a rant but this sort of thing is so disturbing – to all artists.

Thank you for sharing your poem with me. I was happy to read it and thankful someone could put into words how I was feeling.

Oh good. It was a bit scary – I scared myself 🤭but I was pretty angry and I meant it so poof! Maybe it blew any bad vibes lurking away 😁

It is terrible. And stupid. People need to come up with their own work, not steal from others.

Ugh we were just talking about this, sorry it happened to you on a much grander scale

I was thinking about that. I found out about my posts being copied just a couple hours after I’d read your comments and I was like ‘Damn… now I know they feel’. And damn it’s a shitty feeling. I’m sorry for what you’ve felt and been through with respect to people plagiarizing.

That’s so awful, I’m sorry that happened. It takes so much time and effort to make a post, how terrible for someone to steal it like that

What the….. Hopefully they are banned! For now take it as a compliment! But a very low shitty thing for them to do

Trying to take in stride. Hoping there’s more honest people in this world than people who’ll plagiarize, that’s for sure. Generally I love when people feel a desire to share my work – but it’s a whole different feeling if they don’t post credit for it.

Oh that is so horribly disgusting and sickening!!! What do they derive from that? Can they face themselves in the mirror…… really now?!?!?!?!?!?!?! How do they even live with that?!?!?!?!???!

I’m not too sure. I reckon it’s probably easy for them because I think they probably don’t really think there’s a human behind the work that they’re stealing. It sucks, but it’s life I guess. There’ll always be people like that.

Oh Vee…. you are spot on! Candidly, it’s incomprehensible for some people like us who would not even think of doing anything of that sort ….. and yet, it is what it is. Reality check. That’s still part of life …… I hear you loud and clear. I still hope against all odds that they come to terms with all the mess that they do ….. understatement!

That’s awful. Why would they do that? Ugh.

I’m not too sure, really. Why do people do shitty things? I’ll never understand…

Arrgggh this sort of crap is so frustrating! I remember there was a site a while ago taking loads of posts from loads of bloggers, I can’t remember what it was called. They eventually apologised and I think it got shut down. Glad you reported them. Fancy naming and shaming on here? If anyone else spots their own posts on there they can report them too, and hopefully it’ll be stopped.

When you report blogs for Copyright, it sends your legal name and information to the offender and actually gets posted to their blog if your report gets approved. So if they agree that a person clearly plagiarized, the post then says ‘This content has been removed at the request of —— ——-” for copyright.
Because I am an anonymous blog, I didn’t want to name the blogs stealing from me so that everyone could go there and read my full name and learn who I was. Hopefully that makes sense. I’ve been trying to protect myself/my identity in this process of dealing with it.

Oooh I had no idea that happened when you report something – that’s ridiculous! I wouldn’t want my name on it either and I’m more ‘out there’ being less anonymous on my blog so I totally get where you’re coming from. That’s awful!! Definitely off-putting for people to report stuff like this. xx

That enrages me! A writer should always hold credit for hard work. Hope they get the person :@!!

Too lazy to write their own? Not sure. Perhaps they just liked mine so much they wished it was their own? Heaven only knows why people do the things they do. It just sucks though. It’s a really shitty feeling.

I’m so sorry this happened to you ☹️ I remember a while back, someone took my artwork and cropped out my watermark without giving any credit. I eventually reported them on Instagram and it was taken down. But some folks still did the same. I didn’t bother pursuing it because at the end of the day, I’m a believer in karma. They may impersonate the work, but they would never know the actual process it was done.

Thanks. I reported them. It was pretty disheartening… I’m not going to let petty little thieves keep me from my blog though.

I haven’t heard anything back? I’m not sure how long it takes…? I filed it and I’m waiting to hear back. It definitely hasn’t been removed.
One of the blogs has a few DMCA knocks against them, and I’ve noticed that people who filed DMCA’s had their legal names posted to the blog saying “John Doe has claimed copyright to this…” yatta yatta. So I don’t want to share who the thiefs are because if I share a link tonight and my report gets approved tomorrow then anyone who clicks on that link will then see my legal name and know who I am… and that thought scares me. I feel a little bit like I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place…

That really does suck. Maybe just tell yourself that your stuff is so good, people can’t help but to steal it.

Yeah. That’s what people have been telling me to think about it. Honestly though, it’s hard to put yourself out there and have someone steal it. Sometimes I wonder if i’d be better going back to my journal. Ya know?

THe particular two that I reported when I made this post, well one of them had copied posts from several blogs – their blog was just straight up copy/pasted, and the other one had taken like famous written pieces and then written their own name on the bottom. Leading me to believe they’d both been doing it on purpose, just trying to sound like a better writer. One thing they signed their own name too was a letter originally written by Charlie Chaplin. It was pretty… interesting attempt.

Oh my goodness!
I have heard of people being taken to court for plagiarism.. Obviously this person needs some lessons in right and wrong..
I wish you all the best, and hope this person is not dealing with mental issues.. because they won’t get the picture, even if they are warned.

Thank you.
I’m learning of this from people who read my blog actually. They’re sending me links and saying “didn’t you write this?”
Sure enough, some being copied as far as 5-6 months back, some posts being copied that I wrote a week ago…
Thank goodness for wonderful people who tell me these things. I dont know what I’d do otherwise, because if someones ripping me off it’s not like they’re going to make themselves easy for me to find… ya know?
