I have an ear infection, sinus infection and throat infection. I seem to have contracted the trifecta of misery after spending two full weeks trying to look after the sick people in this house.
I’m hungry. All of the food is upstairs and I just don’t have the physical energy to even climb the stairs. I’m cold, my body is physically aching and I’m seriously contemplating becoming one with the grizzly bears and spending my winters hibernating from now on.
Why does it feel like my immune system is so much weaker than everyone else?
This is the type of weather we’ve had the past few days around here:

For those of you who are American and might not understand Celsius, -36 Celsius is the equivalent of -32 Fahrenheit. That’s how cold it is. It’s hard to go outside for any length of time when it’s this cold and you’re healthy, nevermind when you’re sick.
January is kicking my ass. Seriously. Okay, I’m done whining now.
Best wishes for your speedy recovery. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you ❤ I've had some cold medicine today. It's helping but not a ton. Just desperately trying to avoid the doctor if I can.

I can’t even wrap my head around how cold that is! Why would humans settle in a place this cold?
LikeLiked by 2 people
I know people ask this with cold weather, but I think the same could be said as to why people settle in places prone to large earthquakes and why people settle in places regularly hit with hurricanes. You know what I mean? It’s all just a matter of perspective.

Sure. I follow. It’s all a crapshoot wherever you go. Personally though I can’t handle the cold. I grew up in Boston and I remember shivering in our drafty old house. All I wanted was to be old enough to move away. And then, lo and behold, I did! I live in sunny Los Angeles now – the earthquakes don’t bother me a bit (go ahead and ask me again after the big one ;)).

Oh man, I grew up in Vancouver, and the earthquakes there, even the smallest of earthquakes, used to scare the living daylights out of me. I’ve never experience Los Angeles, but people tell me there’s more frequent earthquakes in LA than in Vancouver. AKA You’re very brave.

I don’t know about brave – maybe willfully ignorant. Although we did have one last year that caused me to crawl under my desk. I figure the house I live in is 100 years old – it’s seen it’s share of earthquakes – and has made it this far in one piece luck is probably on my side.

We’re looking at two storms in the next few days, one tomorrow with 8 inches of snow and one on Saturday with about 12-14. It’s not that we choose to live here. It’s that we were born here and that means a lot. You appreciate summer more when it’s only 6 weeks long. Do you guys measure snow in centimeters?
Whenever I feel bad like you, I just sing a show tune and it makes everything better! Ready? OK! “I’ve got music, I’ve got rhythm, I’ve got my guy, who could ask for anything more….” Take it, V!

The windows in this house would break if I started singing. Then I’d be in for a whole new world of hurt with the cold.
And yeah, our news reports snow in centimeters. I couldn’t tell you how much snow is out there. It’s like, knee deep. So I totally understand what you’re about to go through.

Awwww girl, I feel ya!! We have been having crazy weather here in the States and I live in the southern region in TX. Take some Echinacea to boost your immune system. It figures you would catch what the rest of your house had if you were care taking. I myself keep myself up on my vitamins and such by drinking a protein shake every morning. I have been doing that and drinking a shot of ACV (apple cider vinegar) for two years now and I hardly get sick. I can also share with you a good mixture to gargle with for that infection.
I’m very homeopathic because I believe that everything we humans need is grown in the ground or comes from nature😊
I hope this helps, feel better my friend🙏

I’d been taking some echinacea but I don’t think my body liked it all too much. I was getting some weird hives that stopped when I stopped taking it. Othrwise, the rest of your advice is solid and definitely what I am following. Trying to get better ASAP! Thank you ❤

Sure there’ll be cold days and tons of cold rain but before you know it the Spring flowers will be coming up and making everyone have hope of better days…while the rest of us stay in bed with all our allergies feeling like crap waiting for Fall again lol. Really though, Canada isn’t as bad as some places right???

Well they are effervescent. Normally main vitamin is vitamin c and a few b vitamins, generally good
for cold and flu season. We have gem here in the UK, assuming you get them in Canada?

Great freaking Scott!
Over here, in Karachi, Pakistan, mercury went below 8°C quite a few times and entire population of the fifth-most-populous city proper in the world is frozen.
I can’t even imagine about what -36°C will do to the people here!!!!!!

You probably wouldn’t know what to do with yourselves. No one would leave their homes. People would starve. It would be a travesty of the times. They’d write books about it and warn about how to make sure it never happened again.

UGH DISLIKE! I was sick off and on from December 13th until, like, last week. I finally made it to urgent care on January 2nd and was diagnosed with 2 ear infections and a sinus infection. I had not been that sick in YEARS. I still have a lingering cough but at least I feel human again. The end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020 was super rough. I hope yours improves soon! Stay warm!
