Well… shit

Yesterday, in this province, we broke the record for positive cases in a single day since the start of the pandemic. Today we broke yesterday’s record.

I would like it stated, for the record, that I am NOT for this ‘well if we all catch it then we’ll be good’ mentality. As someone who lives with an autoimmune condition, I really would prefer to not ‘risk it’ and hope for the best. Maybe that’s just me, though…

Healthy people need to realize that they’re harming everyone if they have a nonchalant attitude about this. Cancer patients are being told they can’t have their treatments because it’s too much of a risk. Surgeries, necessary surgeries are being postponed because it’s not safe. People who need to rely on the health care system are being told that they can’t because selfish people need to throw wedding receptions and retirement parties.

Enough, I say. Enough.

  1. Sending lots of non-COVID hugs and love your way. I literally had a full on meltdown yesterday because of COVID. Just wear a damn mask. If you need help I have some crazy glue! I’m sorry V. I pray you do not get sick ❀

    1. I’m sorry that you had a melt-down. I completely know how you feel. We might not be able to make everyone wear masks, but we can make sure we wear our masks. Or move into a cave.

      1. Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous. Biden was much stronger than I expected him to be, given his lead in the polls. Trump was better behaved than last time, but he just spouted the same BS and divisive comments he’s always fallen back on.

      2. Ok I’m watching it. It’s one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen, for this person to be the president and debating for the next presidency. trump reminds me so much of a friend’s mum who turns into a small child at the slightest sense of being contradicted, and goes through hoops and round in circles to avoid being wrong, in their eyes. My friend’s mum is intolerable in the same way. And it’s just so beyond surreal how childish and irrationally he acts and what he says.

      3. Everyone’s saying ‘he was so calm and collected tonight’. 1) He wasn’t really collected. 2) Spewing bullshit in a calm(er) tone is still bullshit. Sounds like your friend’s mum is a piece of work.

      4. Jesus, who’s saying that? Well I actually have nothing to compare to because I’ve not seen any of the others or even clips of them, but can easily imagine. I was more interested because I heard that they were going to mute the mics to prevent interruptions xD.

If anything I feel like this format just makes his stupidity/irrationality even more obvious, given a defined, free time to speak and saying what he says in a calm tone. It’s even more incongruous.

Yeah my friend’s mum is just a classic narcissist/aspergers type where they perceive things as contradictions or criticisms when they aren’t, and in all cases do absolutely anything to be seen as ‘right’. My dad is the same but he’s just not as outspoken. Both say trump-level things at times. With my dad you just never know what’s going on in his mind, he silently carries these beliefs. My childhood was an absolute nightmare at times and he made me look wrong and ‘bad’ to the rest of the family.

My friend has a lot of obvious autistic traits too so that makes sense, and actually he can be quite self-righteous at times on serious topics but mostly he’s relaxed and I learned when to shut up and just take it πŸ˜†.

Sorry bit of a rant again! I just thank fucking god that I somehow avoided that trait (I think)!!

  2. Dang, that’s insane! I heard just last week that all but eight US states witnessed an upsurge in COVID-19 cases, which blows my mind. It really is scary to see healthy people parading around town without a care, risking not only themselves, but others around them. Even more enervating are those who had COVID, recovered, and now believe they’re immune to it…hence why they’re going out a lot. This really is ridiculous, and all we can do is stay away from these reckless individuals.

    1. They’re talking about this recent spike in cases is thanks to people who got together on thanksgiving for dinner parties and whatnot. Which… got me thinking, the United States is royally screwed when it comes to thanksgiving next month. Not just because of thanksgiving and dinner parties but because it feels like 99 percent of Americans take part in Black Friday shopping and cram into malls for sales. What happens for Black Friday? Is everyone going to collectively shut malls? Because if not, cases from Black Friday are going to be INSANE.

    1. Totally understand where you’re coming from when you say this. I was grocery shopping or a while but I’ve gone back to ordering my groceries. You stay safe and healthy as well, please.

    1. I’m sorry 😦
I know the frustrations. It can be so hard when you feel like you’re trying to do everything you can to stay safe and healthy and the carelessness of others seems to be making far more of an impact.
