I got my package. It was misdelivered to Smith Court and the woman who found it on her doorstep brought it to my house.
I got a raise. And… a promotion? Not really a promotion. Just more responsibilities and will get more money for it. I understand that’s kind of the definition of a promotion… it’s a weird grey area. It’s not a promotion. I think my boss realized that I might have been looking for something new and they wanted to add a little something extra to try and keep me around.
I bought a Christmas tree and I’m going to decorate it. This is a big deal for me because (with the exception of the time spent at my parents house in 2019, the first few months of 2020) I’ve lived on my own since I was 16 and I never bothered to invest in a Christmas tree before. I’m going to this year. This pandemic ain’t going to stop me from celebrating the holiday in the simplest, most special way… exactly how I want.
I’m considering adding a four legged fluff-ball to my life. I’m on the hunt for a small dog. My place just isn’t large enough for a large dog, it wouldn’t be fair to keep them here. But a small dog, I think they could fit in well in this house.
I have a meeting tomorrow with someone who’s looking for someone to design work done for their website. I genuinely don’t know if I have the time too. But, I think that’s a nice problem to have. I’m too ‘in demand’, I can’t help everyone. Okay, that sounds a little too cocky and I didn’t mean it to be that way. I just think it’s a good problem to be too busy. It’s nice when people come to you.
Now if only I could get paid money to just watch movies. That would be an ideal life. I used to say I wanted to paid to travel the world, but at the moment I don’t think that would be too fruitful.
Anyways…
I think I spent too much money on Christmas presents. I need to stay home for the next 10 days and not spend money. Whoops. Good thing it’s -20 outside and snowy. I don’t feel like going anywhere. And, I guess it’s a good thing my Christmas shopping is done. Mad props to companies offering free delivery this year because of the pandemic. That is forward thinking business.
Stay safe, stay healthy and stay sane.
Awesome news! And that raise=Christmas money. You deserve it.

Thank You! And yes, my first larger pay cheque will come mid December. So, just in time for last minute things I want for Christmas. lol

Christmas trees, money and puppy dogs. All a person really needs. I thought -20 seemed cold for this time of year, then I remembered that Canada doesn’t use Fahrenheit.

Yeah, I’ve never for the life of me understood Fahrenheit. lol

It’s really a pretty easy conversion. Each degree in Celsius is about two degrees in Fahrenheit, and zero equals thirty-two. Lolz.

I highly recommend a 4-legged friend! Theyโre so good for anxiety and depression. My parents would only let me get a small dog so we got a pug, after countless years of pestering them. Pugs are amazing little dogs and are really easy-going! French bulldogs are also awesome. Small and mighty I call them.
I miss my pug so much and sheโs 11 years old now. She lives with my parents so I hardly get to visit her. I recently discovered the joy I get from owning a cat – I got a cat to help deal with depression. Cats are low maintenance compared to dogs which is nice. ๐

I would love a pug, they’re so freaking adorable. That being said, I’m hoping to find a rescue, in a small dog. I think there’d be something so sweet about finding a dog that deserves a second chance at life… a new beginning. Ya know? French bulldogs are awesome, I totally agree there.

Rescue pets are the best! My cat is a rescue and heโs a wonderful boy. Hopefully you are able to find a rescue pug or French bulldog. I recommend going to the pound because they have lots of choices there! Prices are very reasonable too and they will neuter/spay your pet for free.

I’m not sure what Christmas is going to look like this year. But, I figured I might as well get a tree up and have a little bright spot in my living room for the next month, right? Thank you. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like I have done anything this year. But sometimes I think about who I was in January and I don’t recognize that girl.

happy news about your parcel – I love these little signs that there are still good people out there.

That’s what I thought when she dropped it off as well! It’s so nice that the package was labeled so she knew exactly what it was and how valuable it was and that it was important for me to get. Rather than thinking ‘Sweet, this is free if I don’t tell anyone I got it’, she got in her car, drove it to my door, rang the door bell and stood back by her car to make sure I came down to the door to get it and see it.
Good people still do shine through.

That’s exciting news! Good luck staying home, I think staying off the internet is hard. I find all these neat things I think would be good to have or give someone and then, bam….I’ve bought it or found it somewhere cheaper. Have an amazing weekend!

Congrats on the promotion that’s not really a promotion! And if you figure out how to get paid to watch movies, clue me in. I wouldn’t mind getting paid to watch movies and write what I think about them. And I realize that’s already a job, but I’m not sure how to get on the movie reviewer path. Besides, there’s probably not a lot of money in it until you get your own show in the 80s where people value which way your thumb is pointed.

Have you ever seen the movie ‘The Holiday’?

I think so… Is that the one with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz where they move into each others’ houses? Been a long time…

Yeah. Kate Winslet runs into this old man who, I think he was a movie reviewer his whole life and he was in his 80s and getting an award. That could be you!

Ahhh a little fluff ball! You will have people telling you you should get this sort or that sort but you need to get the dog you want and you’ll know when you find it. I so wish I could have one too but too many of the cats would have a fit and they already punish me for the smallest disregard of THEIR rules! Glad you are in the festive mood. Enjoy it!

HAHAH! I could see how a house full of cats wouldn’t get on well with a dog.

Congrats on your promotion! I know you are a valuable asset to your company. It’s always nice to be too in demand for your work.
That’s really cool that you’re getting a Christmas tree. I remember when I had my own apartment and lived alone, somebody gifted me a tree with some white lights. It’s not something I would have done for myself — but I was so glad to have one– and have made sure I had one ever since.
Getting a dog transformed me. I had no plans to get a pet and really wasn’t in a position where I could afford the necessary supplies. Yet, I found her inching down the road in a box of fried chicken. She was a tiny puppy covered in fleas. My heart melted. This was three years ago and we’ve been attached at the hip since that first day.
Even my two kids stopped asking me if I preferred my son or my daughter because they know my fur child is my favorite. ๐

Awe, that story about finding your dog is so heartwarming. That’s why I want a dog. I want something to love that much.

She sleeps with us– as in between us in our human bed– every night. She follows me from room to room and sits next to me whenever I plop down on the couch. She’s curled up at my feet when I’m at my desk working. She even waits patiently outside the door if I need to use the bathroom. ๐

I applied for one little cute creature from a local shelter but there were 24 applications. The shelter told me that small dogs are adopted quickly because I live in a city and people like small dogs in the city and don’t want to keep large dogs in small homes with small yards. It might take me a while, but I’m on the hunt for the right little creature.
