I’ve been sick

After a negative COVID test, I went to the Doc and was told that I had a throat infection, sinus infection and ear infection in each ear.

No wonder I felt so miserable.

I thought that it was COVID because I’d lost my sense of smell and taste. Turns out the sinus infection was the culprit there.

It’s been a long road to recover. (I’m being overdramatic, here. It’s been like two weeks) I have been struggling to sleep during those two weeks, though. Waking up every 1.5-2 hours has made it more difficult to get the rest they tell you to get when you are sick.

Something I really appreciated about this past winter was the fact that, because I was around so few people, I was sick was less often then previous years. Back in October when I was sick, it’s because I was exposed to people in my office. And, I know who got me sick this go-around. Luckily for me it hasn’t been COVID. Luckily for me it’s something I can tolerate.

I feel like crap, though.

I wish I could eat ice cream. I would love ice cream with a little maple syrup on top right about now. That sounds delightful.

Don’t get sick, boys and girls. It’s not fun.

Take my word for it.

  1. Being sick is never fun. It can be somewhat enjoyable because of the attention you receive from your parents and not having to go to school. Other than that, the physical pain you recieve from your body fighting the infection can truly be rough on your nervous system.

I hope you feel better soon.

    1. Yeah, I live alone. So it’s more just me trying to survive getting work done and feeling sorry for myself. lol
Thank you for your well wishes.

      1. It’s definitely more of a push when it’s you alone to get yourself better. You have to go to work because you can’t afford to not have a paycheck coming. I remember those days too well. It’s why I wear a mask religiously now every time I feel off. You’ll make it through.

    1. If I had survived a year without COVID only to get it now that I know a vaccine eligibility is coming, I’d have been really pissed with myself.

    1. Yes. Pertinent reminder for me that I should continue avoiding people. So long as I don’t go near people, I stay healthy. Thank you for your well wishes.

    1. I’m lactose intolerant.
It basically damages my intestines if I have that much dairy, and it takes weeks to recover from it. IE, one bowl of ice cream could make me uncomfortable for weeks.

      1. Hmm.. here (in Berlin) supermarkets and quite a lot of ice cream shops sell lactose-free ice cream, maybe you could look for that there too? I

  2. I hope you feel better soon. I’ve been completely home-based for the last 9 years or so and one of the first things I noticed was how I wasn’t getting ill with all the usual winter colds etc. I put this down to not being in the office environment and not having to use public transport to get to work.

  3. Unfortunately everyone at work is not responsible. Some people knowing coming into work sick and get others sick. I am glad that you tested negative for COVID, but I am sorry that you got sick. Get well.

  4. Aww shit, that’s not fun. I hope the infections clear up asap so you can start getting back to baseline. Take things easy. Watch loads of crappy Tv. Sending hugsΒ β™₯

    Caz xx
